We are thrilled to welcome the one and only Rachel True to Blerdcon 2019! She is a perfect fit with our theme of “Blerd Magic” and is an icon for free spirited black women everywhere!
“I think there’s a whole set of alternative black girls who were so grateful that there was a Denise Huxtable on television so we can say, ‘Oh wow, that’s sort of like me but different but like me.”
True, a native of New York City, has appeared in popular TV shows including Beverly Hills 90210, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Dawson’s Creek, Noah’s Ark and The Drew Carey Show and made her film debut in CB4 (1993) and starred alongside Dave Chappelle in Half Baked (1998). Her breakout role as Rochelle, a teenager into witchcraft in the 1996 cult film The Craft, lead to many curly haired black girls to dress as the character for Halloween and being impersonated by drag queen Honey Mahogany from RuPaul’s Drag Race.
The power of representation.
Rachel will be signing autographs, doing photo ops and speaking on panels! Make sure to purchase your full weekend badge and reserve your 4star Hyatt hotel room for only $103 per night in the Blerdcon block! Don’t get left out! Don’t miss the Blerd Magic this July 12th-14th!
