Hailing from the nation’s capital, Washington D.C, MC Brooks is an eclectic nerdcore-adjacent hip hop artist whose love of anime, video games, and hip hop inspire his work. His blend of introspective and witty lyricism over a variety of upbeat and downtempo soundscapes take listeners on a one-of-a-kind journey into his life and experiences.
Brooks began making music at the age of 14, with encouragement from his friends. He honed his skills over the years, performing with rap-rock bands in high school and studying audio production. In 2005, Brooks went solo, releasing his first mixtapes between 2009-2013. In April 2015, he dropped his debut album “The Dead Zone,” followed by the “Liberation” EP in 2016, which featured the popular and powerful song “Vanity Sick.” After a brief hiatus, Brooks returned in September 2018 with his latest project, “Dark Dawn.”
He has performed all over the country, including at Flushing Meadows Park in New York City and the legendary Howard Theatre in his hometown. As of 2023, MC Brooks has released three mixtapes, one album, two EPs, and several singles, such as “Crunchyroll and Chill” and “Where My Weebs At?,” which are available on his bandcamp and all streaming platforms.
MC Brooks will be performing on the outdoor stage, Friday at 3:15 p.m.
