Music is everywhere. It can be found in movies, T.V shows, commercials, videogames, anime, etc. I myself have been inspired to play music, not just because I liked a band or two, but also because of my favorite movie scenes and videogame boss fights. My inspiration to play guitar actually began because of my love of the Guitar Hero videogame series. After discovering Guitar Hero, I decided to choose the guitar as my instrument of choice and never looked back.
The beginning of my journey as a guitar player took me in many different directions, but there were a few influences who stuck out to me the most. 80s Virtuoso guitar players such as Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai, and John Petrucci became heavy research subjects of mine. They each a distinct style of playing and each had mastered the guitar in their own right. Paul Gilbert has “ THE CLEANEST” picking technique i’ve ever heard ( in my opinion of course). Steve Vai has a very melodic and vocal like quality to his playing that can captivate an audience like no other. John Petrucci to me is the king of creating unique arpeggios and has incredible dexterity to be able to have mastered them. I’ve made it a priority to incorporate these different level of guitar mastery into my own playing style.
